Day 152

“Zeiss, I’m scared.”

“Me too Mana.”

“Where’s Bone?”

“Right here!”

“Wait, where, it’s so dark!”

“I’ll make a light. Flamethrower!” Suddenly a small flame flickered and the faces of three young children appeared. One was a young boy wearing blue robes, a girl wearing a red starred hood and a young boy wearing overalls and a white shirt under it with heavy gloves and a pair of goggles. They all made a half scream before covering their mouths. They took a look to see that all of them were there.

“Where are we?” The boy in the overalls asked his friends. They shook their heads. The other boy, a very tall specimen with the blue robes stepped forward with the fire in his hands.

“I don’t know, but I think we should go. The others should be somewhere, they might know what to do.” The boy started to walk with the girl and boy in tow. They walked a long way before the flame eventually flickered away. “I’m out of magic?” The boy in the blue robes tried to make another ball of fire but it disappeared as quickly as it was made.

“Ahhh!” The girl started to panic but the boy in the overalls quickly quieted her down. Suddenly a large light appeared behind them. They then heard a growling noise.

“Zeiss, is that you?” The boy in the overalls asked.

“No, Mana?” Zeiss asked the girl.

“Bone...” Mana’s hair stood on end as she looked like she was about to pass out.

“If it was me why would I be asking who it was?” Bone said.

“Let’s move very slowly now, maybe it won’t try to hurt us.” Zeiss said as they started to tip-toe forward at a pace so slow it was as if they weren’t moving. The light stayed in its place and the three kids didn’t look back at all. Suddenly a small rock was crushed under Bone’s boot and he uttered a meek cry. They heard an aggravated roar behind them and they screamed on the top of their lungs and started to run for their lives. They ran as fast as their little legs could carry them but the thunderous footsteps continued to follow them. Zeiss looked back and the light it was emitting was from its burning eyes and they were trapped inside a cave like structure. Zeiss picked up the pace and passed his friends and screamed even louder. After a series of screams and sprints, Mana fell over a rock and fell to the ground. She curled up in a ball and held her ears closed. The beast went to devour the young girl but for some reason it stopped over her body. Mana looked up to see a man with his back to the monster over her. He was extraordinarily tall, he wore a large white coat and a red v-neck shirt under it and baggy pants. He had long blonde hair and he had a little bit of hair forming a grizzled beard. Mana instantly blushed at her savior and he smiled back at her. She noticed that the monster’s mouth was open but wasn’t able to close its jaws on either Mana nor the man. Upon further inspection she saw a wall of hexagonal shapes of light a few inches away from the man’s back.

“Hraaah!”  The man grunted and a wave of energy threw the monster back several feet. The man turned around to the monster and pointed his finger at it. “How about that?” He said and turned back to Mana, he lent out a gloved hand towards her helping her up. “You alright pretty lady?” The man said and Mana simply stuttered. THe man took it as a sign that she was incapable of moving and quickly picked her up. “Let me guess, you three are the new warriors of harmony?” The man asked. “Let me guess, you two are Zeiss and Bone and the pretty lady here is Mana.” The man smiled at them. His body gave off a glow that lighted up the cave, a light much more brilliant and less violent than the monster’s light. “I’m Roland, you’re neighborhood friendly Paladin.” Roland introduced himself with a grin that was as bright as his glow. He was monstrous, he was well over six feet and his hair was long and spiking all over the place, his feet were over a foot long and he kept his massive hands under black leather gloves. He set down mana and patted off her mage robes. “So what are you kids up to, you know you shouldn’t be in caves like this one here.” Roland said and flexed his shoulders.

“Is an exit really close?” Zeiss asked the huge bear of a man. Roland flicked his thumb and chuckled.

“Not really. I heard Mana scream and I kinda got lost in the moment and moved really really fast so it’s not for a few dozen miles and I’m out of juice. So we’re going to have to walk from here on out.” Roland gave a half smile. The three kids fell to the ground and groaned. “Hey I still got my strength, so you shouldn’t worry. Hey how about I carry you all to the exit, that way you won’t have to work anymore.” Roland gave the three kids a thumbs up but they continued to groan. He then swung Mana onto his back and carried the boys under his arms. “You’re making this worse than it’s supposed to.” Roland said with Mana gripping tightly around his neck. He grunted as he continued to walk. After walking a while the children started to grow comfortable around the older man. “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of all of you, I know it looks hard to believe but I’m twenty seven years old, I lived much longer than you had.” Roland reassured the kids as he kept walking with a little hop in his step. He seemed to glide with the kids under his arm. His senses piqued as he heard a rumbling in the cave. He closed his eyes and looked as if he was concentrating hard on something. “Oh that thing is still alive, oops got to run.” Roland said as he started to run, the monster quickly gaining on him and the three children under his arms. The man may have still been fast with the kids in his arms but the beast was faster on all fours and it was a matter of time before it reached them. Roland prayed to himself. “Come on, someone be here dammit.” Roland tried to run faster but he was going as fast as he possibly could. He then heard a clapping noise

“Pathetic, really.” An older voice called out as someone slammed down on the ground. Suddenly there were multiple sparks of electricity jumping from the ground in the form of a circle with a star in the center. The cave then started to shift as stalagmites from the walls, ground and roof pierced the beast behind the paladin. 

“Hey Crowley, good to see you too.” Roland said as he dropped the kids and had a light radiate from his hands towards their ally. He was an older looking man with premature white hair and dark grey eyes. He was wearing a black shirt and dark pants with a white scarf around his neck. “Hey kids, he’s an alchemist so he’s all about analyzing, destroying and recreating and stuff like that.” Roland winked, Crowley clapped his hands and took a rock off the ground and made a torch out of it. 

“Come on man-child, let us exit this place it’s dank and smells of dead monsters.” Crowley said as he led the paladin and the children away form the monster’s carcass.   

Day 151

An instant flash of black and blue followed by a monstrosity of fire and dark scales. The lush jungle landscape was being torn to pieces, shown no mercy by the creature hunting its infinitesimal prey, it was giving the small creature no quarter. It thrashed about as it opened its colossal jaws. The small creature soared through the trees, sweating furiously, trying to escape with its life. While continuing its escape it started to utter noises.

“What did I do? What did I do?” The creature which actually was an eleven year old boy whined as he soared from tree to tree with athletic grace, it was apparent that he was no ordinary pre-adolescent as he was able to defy gravity for several seconds before reaching the ground and landing safely on a thin tree branch. He looked back and the monster roared in response. The boy locked his knees and took an extraordinary leap forward and rapidly increased his speed in order not to be devoured by the beast. After a long period of evasive maneuvers the boy started to become tired. He looked back upon the beast and grunted. He started to despise how much energy the beast had in it. He yelled in frustration and turned backwards. “I had enough, you’re going down. Majin Rengazan!” The boy made a slashing formation with both of his arms which threw out waves of sonic energy at the monster which hit it square in the face. The monster screamed in anguish and fell back. “Jackpot!” The boy said and took a moment to rest. The monster stumbled backwards for a bit, the boy wishing for it to fall to its demise. The creature however regained composure and started to build up fire in its gaping jaws. “You’ve got to be kidding me.” The boy started to jump again, even faster than before. The creature let out a roar and unleashed the stored up fire in its mouth in the form of a giant sphere of blazing fury. The boy looked back and his eyes widened in shock. “Zeppuujin... WHOAH!” The boy started to create a projectile of wind but it instantly withered away by the incoming ball of fire. He held his hands over his face hoping that if he didn’t see it, it wasn’t real. Fully expecting for it to turn him into a freshly roasted meal he felt the slightest breeze tickle his cheek. He unobstructed his face and saw that the fire ball was actually cut into two, a feat that would seem normally impossible.

“How was someone like you chosen to be a warrior of harmony?” A gruff older voice called out. The boy looked at the face of his savior. He was far older than him, he may have been four times his own age. He had long black unkempt hair and he was wearing a headband with a piece of black and red metal sticking upwards like a pincer. He was also wearing a long black coat with a flame motif on the bottom and plates of red armor running down his armor. His muscles peeked from his skin tight shirt and formed a cloak that covered most of his legs. In his right hand was a long katana. 

“Who are you?” The boy asked probably the most obvious question one could ask in a situation such as that.

“There are more pressing matters at hand, preferably this annoying pest you seemed to pick up. Perish. Kaenrekkuu.” The man swung his sword and from his blade came forth a blazing tempest. As it moved forward it grew more massive in size and it engulfed the entire monster in its blistering flames. “The more important question is, who are you boy?” The man said as he swung his sword and the flames dissipated and the monster fell over, most probably dead, no living creature would have been able to survive a technique of such strength.

“I’m a warrior of harmony.” The boy finally managed to get the words out of his mouth with plenty of stuttering in between.

“Tell me something I don’t know.” The man said and he made his sword disappear in thin air making it look like he was sheathing it. The boy just stood in amazement at the man before him. The man turned around and saw that the beast was not dead but knocked out. He put his arm in front of the boy ready to protect him but he looked up and saw that something was falling from the sky. It landed on top of the monster’s head and brought it to the ground bringing upon a dust cloud. After the dust settled it was revealed that a man holding a spear horizontally behind his neck was standing on the monster’s skull, he looked like an ordinary man his height was a bit above average but his grin was above average, smiling from pierced ear to ear. 

“Hey Judy buddy, you’re slipping a bit letting something as weak as this surprise you!” The man said as he jumped up on the same branch as his friend. The man didn’t look like a warrior but instead a spelunker. He had a brown Tyrollean hat, a red scarf a brown overcoat and blue jeans. He did not look like the type of guy that would have taken down a giant dragon. The only thing that made him look dangerous was his spear, long and red and decorated with an angel wing and a devil wing and two long prongs now dripping in blood.

“I’ve told you countless times Valentine, it is not ‘Judy‘ my name is Judas.” The long haired man said and the man with the spear, apparently named Valentine simply mocked him.

“Fine Judas, have it your way Mr. Samurai. You’re no fun.” Valentine took his spear and plunged it into the branch under him, he snapped his gloved hands and the spear vanished in speckles of light and dust.

“You are not suited to be a dragoon Valentine. You’re unbecoming and crude.” Judas mentioned and rubbed his head with his thumb and fore-finger. 

“Well that’s something coming from you wise guy.” The boy just looked at the two adults arguing. They looked relatively similar but the adults couldn’t be any more different, Judas was stern and stoic while Valentine was carefree and childish. He was utterly speechless.

“The others are coming soon aren’t they? I sense their presence.” Judas said.

“What, you don’t like my company anymore, whatever I saw them a long time before you could ‘sense’ them.” Valentine retorted. After a long period of constant bickering the boy started to hear rustling in the trees around him. “They’re here.” Valentine said in a sing song voice. 

Suddenly three figures jumped out from their hiding places. One of them was an old noble looking man with a white mustache and a dark suit. The second was a younger man, probably wasn’t past his teens, he was wearing a black long collared sleeve shirt with frilled wrists and black pants with a thorn motif running down the outside of his legs and has a cross on the front of his shirt. He also wore a long black cape. But the oddest of all was a strange mask made of monster bones partially obscuring his face. The last was a girl, probably younger than the boy, she was wearing a black and purple gothic dress and by her side was a small purple limbless monster with giant eyes and a mouth with shark like teeth. It flew around her in a circular motion, laughing manically. 

“Look who it is, Wolfhelm, Cain and Isabel.” Valentine said to the three new comers. “Care to join the party?” Valentine asked.

“A party really, a bad choice in venue though, next time I’ll decide.” The old man, who was known as Wolfhelm said.

“Valentine, you really are nothing but an immature pest.” Isabel said and the creature by her side laughed.

“Valentine is a brat, Valentine is a brat! Kyahahahaha!” The monster by her side cackled.

“Not interested.” The last person, Cain said as he took a deep breath. “But who is the kid?” Cain pointed out to the boy who had been doing nothing but staring at the group of warriors before him.

“So, who are you?” Valentine asked him.

“A warrior of harmony no doubt of course.” Wolfhelm exclaimed.

“Speak up little boy.” Isabel chimed in.

“Speak up, speak up!” The creature by her side repeated.

“Say your name.” Judas said. The boy snapped out of his fantasy and took a deep breath.

“I’m the fighter. My name... is Justice.”

What mattered the most, was remembered last.

Day 143

“Justice, I want you to kill her.” Rose ordered her subordinate. Justice moved his hands fluidly to the scabbard on his back and pulled out slowly his two twin swords. Under her trance his eyes were empty and soulless and he approached the girl, the water in the Order’s sanctuary making the smallest noises. His blades rubbed together making a resonating sound. Jems stood alone with Eden who sat at her throne looking down in anguish, the last warrior of harmony remained and she would have her life ended. Justice quickly shifted his position and dashed forward with his blades pointed to the young girl. Rose smiled at her weapon’s actions, believing it was all according to her plan though he was originally was against it. He did not want to kill the girl, he could not understand why he had became attached to her and it made Rose very impatient but honestly scared, she then took over his mind and forced him to kill Jems for her own entertainment. Jems took a deep breath and closed her eyes and waited for her demise but after a few seconds she did not feel anything but heard another breath embrace her cheek. She opened her eyes to see Justice standing over her his swords by her neck and his face close to hers, his eyes returned to its golden-brown color and he looked as if he was struggling, the pain in his face was indescribable but clearly present. He took the swords away from her and turned away from her to face Rose and the warriors of chaos.

“I will not be controlled by you anymore.” Justice held his swords horizontally over his chest each facing the opposite direction. “You are not her, she would not tell me to kill anyone, she would not be filled with such darkness and I will protect her.”

“You, protect her. You against all of us? You surrender yourself to death so easily?” Rose chuckled, she was correct, he was alone against the numerous warriors of chaos but he did not waver.

“I will protect her no matter what.” Justice said, a golden aura glowing from his body. Rose grew infuriated and her black aura flared.

“Do not bother with the boy, you can kill her yourself. As for the defiant traitor, I will personally send him to the Void.” Lucian the Kid said as he drew his guns. Rose lifted her hammer and halted his progress.

“I will deal with this myself.” Rose whispered to the god of death and he nodded and withdrew his weapons. “Justice, think of what you’re doing, you will cast away your life and memories for this one girl you are destined to kill? Think of what is going through your mind.” Rose pleaded with her former lover, her butterfly masking resting on top of her head rather than on her face.

“I stopped thinking and I started feeling and my heart is telling to protect this girl with all of my strength.” Justice said as he readied to battle. Rose stared at him, she was almost ready to cry but she looked to the ground and turned away.

“I can do nothing to stop you now, can I?” Rose asked and Justice shook his head. While facing away she opened a compartment in her robotic chest. She took out a glowing card. “Now both of you will die! Yeshuah, bring upon your judgment upon the foolish sinners.” Rose crushed the card and out of it came a tall humanoid bathed in white, its back nailed to a cross with coffins hanging from its arm. It drew a long spear with two winding forks and brought it backwards and then threw it with great strength. Justice turned to see the spear and immediately thought of Jems and moved in front of her in a ditch attempt to save her. The spear passed through him in blinding pain and he screamed out in anguish. He looked behind him in vain only to see that the spear went through Jems’ pale flesh. She fell to the ground and Justice pulled the spear out of him.

“Jems, no!” He screamed holding her in his bloody arms. “I don’t want you die, I didn’t want this to end like this!” Justice cried and shook her, he looked to Rose. “How dare you do this to her!” Justice yelled but then he looked back to see Eden crying in her throne unable to use her powers in order to keep the stability of the world in check. He looked down solemnly. “I walked down a path of darkness, all alone, in eternal solitude. I casted out the light like it was nothing and kept on walking. I was too damaged to do anything. I couldn’t embrace the light. Not until now, I’ve seen the light in this remarkable girl and had fallen in love once again. I was not restricted to the past, not on the whims of a lingering sentiment of my past love who also died in my arms. I will not repeat history. I will keep her alive the only way I can.” Justice took his hand and dug into the hole in his body, blood ran down his stomach. Justice grabbed something hard and tried to rip it free but it was tough and hard to separate from what was already there. He bit down as he tore it out of his body and raised it to the air. It was a glowing ball of light. “Let this act atone for the sins of my past, the killing, the darkness inside me. I give my light to her so that she may live. In exchange, revive me as a warrior of harmony. I will do anything to make this girl live and see the end.” Justice cried, the ball of light was powerful, it made him want to shut his eyes but he did not want to give in to the darkness. Eden looked at him.

“Your memories will be completely erased, your feelings for each other will be gone entirely. Is this what you want?” Eden asked and Justice nodded his head. He took the ball of light and put it slowly into Jems’ chest. She opened her eyes and looked at her savior.

“Justice, why?”

“Because I love you.”

“I love you too. But you’re light.”

“I don’t need it, as long as I have you.” Justice said as he turned around to the warriors of chaos and drew his swords once more, his once golden aura turning into a black haze.

“You sacrificed your powers to her!” Rose called out in anger.

“You are a monster who needs exterminating. I will make sure she lives! I will go to the Void for her.” Justice said hobbling over, his sword barely pointing straight.

“It is you against all of us! You will not win!” Rose said as the warriors of chaos prepared their weapons. All except a small few. Astro, Selena, Jasmine, Silk, Zeiss and Echidna ran to Justice’s side and readied their weapons.

“You know, you guys don’t seem to tough, picking on the few and all!” Astro said as he pulled out his flag, letting the banner wave in the air. “Sign me up, make me a warrior of harmony too!” 

“Justice, these guys are wrong and I’d be happy to see your relationship with her come to fruition. So let’s have one last battle!” Jasmine steadied her katana.

“Let’s do this, I don’t need knowledge if I have friendship.” Silk said.

“We’re making the right choice now.” Zeiss nodded his head.

“You know, you are worth dying for. These warriors of chaos just so happened were becoming a bore.” Echidna took out her scepter and held it to the warriors of chaos.

“I’m not afraid anymore, I’ll fight.” Selena’s body radiated with a gorgeous light as she agreed to fight.

“Eden, protect her, do not worry about the stability of the world. And guys, thank you, we may end up dying in this battle.” Justice said.

“We know that, come on. Let’s do this, for her.” Jasmine said looking at Jems’ body trying to accept the light, floating in mid-air. “We all have some atoning to do.” Jasmine said as she made the first move. The rest followed. The fight was vicious. Blades and spells flew across the sanctuary and Justice by himself, without his light killed many of his former comrades with the same energy he had used to slay the warriors of harmony. However they still faced great odds and soon all were destroyed except Justice, who clung on to life for the girl. He used his blades as a walking stick and limped to the girl suspended in mid-air. 

“I’m sorry I couldn’t live to see your revival. My attempts were once again in vain. I’m sorry.” Justice said as the life faded from him and he barely grasped her hand hanging solely by the will of his love for her he held on to her hand. Jems felt a warmth fading and she opened her eyes to see Justice’s hand on her and his body disintegrating from his feet up. She woke up and floated down to him. She turned him around and saw that his eyes were still open. He looked at her, ready to die. “You are beautiful in this light. I regret nothing because of you. Please, live on. I do not mind going into the Void for you now.” Justice said as his body completely vanished leaving behind a sword buried in the ground. Jems started to tear and saw the warriors of chaos approaching her. She stood up and she put her hands by her chest bringing forth an intense light. Her body glowed and her clothes became to change, she was now dressed in a white cloth tope, with a white skirt with heart emblems in the front and on the sides. She took the ball of light and raised it above her head.

“Justice, I don’t want you to leave, I don’t want you to be brought to the Void. Don’t leave.” She started to cry. “Oh wicked spirits born in limbo, receive judgment from the light of the holy virgin, cleansed of unworldly impurities, return to the heaven and the earth. Repent.” Jems said as she threw out her arms and the light exploded into a large ring that shot outward, bathing everything in an all consuming light. It however was not just any light, it was light of rebirth, it was the light to start a new cycle, but it would be a different kind of cycle, it would not be a cycle of tragedy and destruction but one of hope and love. The final cycle.
