Mood: Riled up
“Selena are you okay? That was some blast we took. Don’t think there’s anyone else here besides us.” Jude said, after thinking to himself he then blushed. Jude, the paladin always took the brunt of all the attacks in the name of chivalry, the exact opposite of his friend Justice who was capable of destroying everything with the power of darkness. Jude preferred the holy prominence of light over the frightening forces of the darkness. Selena, who was the white mage excelled at boosting the morale of others as she healed them. They were seemingly a perfect match. Jude would like to think so as well. The spellweaver then started to move and rub her wide forehead.
“What happened? I feel like I was put through a meat grinder.” Selena wiped dust off her white robe, a trademark to those who go into white magic along with a hood and a red triangle pattern on the sleeves and bottom.
“Everything just blew up, I covered you so we blasted off together I guess.” Jude ran a hand forward through his hair. His pure white armor reflected the light from the moon giving it a serene shine.
“Thank you, for covering me.” Selena smiled as she picked up her staff sitting at her side. Jude blushed and stuttered.
“No, no problem. Just doing my job that’s all.” Jude turned away in embarrassment.
“I’m not as durable as the other fighters so I really got to thank you, I don’t think I would’ve survived a blast like that. Oh no!” Selena put her hand over her mouth. Jude turned back to her in earnest.
“What’s wrong?”
“Everyone else, they probably need healing!” Selena tried to walk but instantly tripped and looked over at her leg and saw that it was bleeding. “Oh god, I’m supposed to be helping others and I end up getting hurt, I’m totally useless.” Selena went into fetal position and dug her head in. Jude saw this as opportunity to console her.
“You’re not useless, I bet everyone was disorientated by that blast. Rose really did a number on all of us. You’re not alone.”
“But you’re okay.” Selena looked up with tears in her eyes.
“But I’m a Paladin, I can take the heat. However, you are a white mage, not so used to such damage, let me help you with that leg.” Jude put his hands over her cut and took a deep breath. Light started to pour from his hands and onto the wound. It closed up in mere seconds. “And that’s how you patch up a wound, how does your leg feel?” Jude asked.
“Wow, you’re amazing, you’re so talented. You can fight and heal.” Selena commented with no sense of envy.
“I’m not talented.”
“Well how did you fix my leg then?”
“I’m not good with white magic, this is all I can really handle. I can’t do what you do, you’re much better than I am.”
“Oh that’s not true, the truth is I’m not such a great white mage.”
“Nonsense, you’re awesome.” Jude said very loudly.
“An awesome white mage?”
“Totally, you’re giving yourself too little credit, if you weren’t around Justice would be using too many Souleaters and end up devouring his own soul. And that wouldn’t be good.” Jude laughed. Selena chuckled as well. Jude took a deep breath and sat down next to her. “You’re just so amazing, you can bring people back from the brink of death. I wish I had that kind of strength.” Jude clenched his fist towards the sky as if to grab the full moon.
“But you protect people from harm, you lessen the burden for everyone, they have nothing to fear when you’re around.”
“But come on, I can’t protect thirty people from getting hurt all the time. I’m not quick like Silk or Astro. I have all this heavy armor and this axe.” In a flash of light Jude materialized a giant battle axe gripped in his hand. Like his armor the axe was snow white and reflected the moonlight. Selena chuckled.
“You look like a knight in shining armor. Just like in a fairy tale.” Selena smiled.
“Shall I slay a dragon for you milady?” Jude pretended to be a knight and saluted her. She stood up and curtsied like a princess.
“Oh yes, it has been bothering me ever so much Sir Jude.” Selena couldn’t contain her laughter and Jude ended up following her lead. Selena saw him laughing and then stopped. After a few seconds Jude ceased as well. “I don’t want any of us to fight any longer.” Selena grabbed her arm.
“Me too but there are somethings we just have to do, we are all making sacrifices. None of us are enjoying this, but when this ends we’ll all have a laugh about it.” Jude comforted her and she wrapped her arms around him.
“Thank you, I needed that.”
“No problem, just doing my job, that’s all.” Jude smiled and held for a bit longer.
